Ipod – The Music Player For All

ipods seem to be taking over the world. One sees them everywhere one goes, being used by adults and children alike. One sees them on the television and in the movies. It seems that people are going insane over them! It is actually not surprising that this little device is attracting such fanatical devotion; it is indeed a fantastic device; it might even be the coolest thing to show up ever!

The ipod is a pocket sized, ultra light hard drive based audio player, designed and marketed by Apple Computers. All the ipod models are user friendly in design, and can be used even by young children. They offer a simple user interface and a scroll wheel to browse the navigation system. Unlike the other portable cassette or CD players, the iPod stores media on in-built memory. What this means is that you do not need to insert a CD or cassette.

An iPod is practical, functional, and cute as well! There are three different sizes and shapes to choose from. There is the skinny little iPod shuffle; the slightly larger but even skinner nano, and the most Popular regular iPod that can play all your favorite TV shows and favorite songs.

Some of the other mp3 players available might have disadvantages if compared to the wonder of the iPod. It is not only a question of how many songs they can hold; the overall quality and the cute look of the little machines are truly matchless. They can hold thousands of songs and pictures, they are so tiny, and they come in such wonderful colors. The iPod mini came in green and pink and blue and other lovely colors. The nano and the iPod now come in white and black. All the colors are hot and look great.

What it has come down to is that when you want to go in for a new music player, you may consider to get an iPod. It will hold hundreds of songs; the battery life is great. You can play it for more than twenty hours before you need to charge it again.

When you buy the iPod, the iTunes software is included in it. This software uploads music and photos in the iPod and it has been likened to a jukebox. The function of this software is to play, store and organize all the music and video files on the iPod. With iTunes, you can connect to the iTunes Music Store and buy music files for playing on the iPod. Although iTunes has been developed by Apple, it will work with Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 operating systems. ITunes is also freely downloadable on the web.

Apple Corporation released the iPod in October, 2001. Since then, the iPod has become the biggest selling portable hard disk player. It has sold around twenty million units in 2001-2005. The way the iPod was initially marketed also contributed to its enormous Popularity, with excellent ads playing the coolest tunes in the background.

The tiny size of the iPod is its biggest advantage, and you can take it with you wherever you go. This can have its problems, as the iPod is delicate, and the screen and case are prone to scratching, even during normal use. So now a huge market has opened up, offering cases for your iPod to protect it from damage so that you can take it literally anywhere. The cases have options for clips and straps, so your iPod need never leave your side, until you want to put it away yourself.

Is it Possible to Download Music Legally Anymore?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Throughout the past few years downloading music on the internet

has increased in Popularity. At the same time though, it has

become illegal through many companies to download music as

musicians and artists have been losing money on their CD sales.

With many people being sued in the past couple years for

downloading music, is it really possible to download music

legally anymore? If so, at what price will it cost you to

download music?

As music sites such as Napster and Kazaa and many more have

attempted to create sites to download music for free, they have

just increased the problem that much more. Some of the users of

these programs have learned the hard way that music does not

come free, as they were sued for illegally downloading music.

Today there are many sites in which you can download music at

where they claim it is 100% legal. The latest music file

formats used are Windows® Media (WMA), Advanced Acoustic Coding

(AAC) and Atrac 3, and are very Popular as it increases the

sound quality making it closer to an actual CD bought in stores.

Another great advantage is that many sites such as

SonicSelector Service on MSN allow you to preview the music

before buying it. Many sites today also offer a three-day trial

of their music downloading site, and then after that you will

have to begin paying a monthly fee. So it is possible to

download music legally online, but at what cost?

Pressplay.com offers unlimited music for a price of $9.95 per

month and then you also have to install the software from their

site. The downloaded music is non-burnable and once your

subscription runs out you no longer have access to any of your

songs. Rhapsody at listen.com also charges $9.95 per month for

non-burnable music, but instead of downloading the music you

download a music player that gives you access to the songs.

Now you can download music and you know the basic price per

month for non-burnable songs. However, most people download

music so that they can burn their favorite CD with a variety of

songs. Transferring these songs onto a CD or a personal MP3

player will cost you even more. Many sites offer packages for

songs capable of burning as oppose to a set price per song.

For example, Pressplay offers 5 burnable songs for $5.95, 10

burnable songs for $9.95, 20 burnable songs for $18.95, and then

on top of those prices you are still required to pay the monthly

fee to use the program. MusicNet offers a package for $17.95 a

month that comes with unlimited downloading music and 10

burnable songs.

There are other sites such as apple.com/itunes that is priced at

99 cents to download a song and there is no monthly fee, but you

must own a Mac in order to do this. Sites such as mp3.com,

peoplesound.com, and soundclick.com all offer free music to

download and burn. The catch is that these sites offer a

majority of unknown artists and songs.

With the exception of the last few sites I have mentioned, you

will find a relatively large selection of music to choose from

in all of these sites. Not one of the sites offers less than

300,000 songs to choose from with all of the biggest names in

the music industry such as Eminem, Britney Spears, and even

oldies such as Elvis, The Beatles, and Frank Sinatra.

There are websites out there that are 100% legal for you to

download music at. The question now is how much money are you

willing to pay to download all of the hottest songs today, and

are you willing to pay extra to put those songs onto a CD?

Playing a CD In Windows Media Player

Filed under: Music Player Articles —Tagged , , — music @ 3:42 am

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Windows Media Player is the Media Player that comes bundled with Windows. I’m sure you’re aware of it, it’s actually pretty useful. Recently Microsoft has released the latest version of Windows Media Player they’re now on version 11!

Windows Media Player is capable of playing all types of different Media it can play Videos and Music. The music can either be from CD or MP3.

The first time I got a Computer with a CD-Rom Drive I was amazed at how easy it was to play an Audio CD on it! It was absolutely amazing, quite often while I’m working I’ll put on a CD using my Computer to entertain myself!

Windows Media Player 11 has been completely redesigned it now brings a completely new look and feel to your entertainment suite. One of the main problems with previous versions of Windows Media Player was that it didn’t include a DVD Decoder. Unfortunately this has not been rectified in this most recent release to play a DVD you must have another Decoder installed.

Windows Media Player 11 is great for playing Audio CD’s, so how can you play an Audio CD ?

There are two methods, the first is using the auto run feature of your Computers CD-ROM drive if it is enabled, this is the easiest.

Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive.
Close the tray.
Select Windows Media Player from the list of Programs.
Click ok and your CD will play automatically.

There is another way of playing Audio CD’s in Windows Media Player, if the CD is already in your drive then its pointless ejecting it and putting it back in.

Or you might have to use this method if your Computer has auto run disabled.

Insert the CD into your CD-Rom drive, and close the tray.
Click the arrow under the “Now playing” tab.
Select the CD that you want to play.

If you want to eject the Disc you don’t have to reach down to the button on the front of your Drive, you can right click the navigational pane in WMP 11 and select eject! What a convenience!

To skip between tracks use the forward and backward skip buttons in the players controls.

Windows Media Player even has advanced controls you can use it to rip CD’s to your Hard Drive. You can use just this Software to convert your CD’s into MP3 Files that you can load onto your MP3 Player! Just don’t go sharing these Files with anyone else.

It’s easy to set Windows Media Player as your Default Player, if it doesn’t do so automatically when installed then do the following:

Open your control Panel.
Click on “Add Remove Programs”.
Double click “Custom”.
Change the default Player to “Windows Media Player“.
Click ok.

Windows Media Player is a really easy to use program, especially for playing something like Audio CD’s! It automatically contacts an Internet Server to find out the correct Names for all the tracks on your CD.
